About Curtains Newcastle

A curtains-first window furnishing studio for Newcastle. That order matters: in a city where curtains are usually the afterthought page on a blinds website, we made them the whole point.

What we believe

Cloth first, then everything else

Most window furnishing companies sell mechanisms and add fabric. We start from the fabric: what the cloth weighs, how it takes your light, how it falls when it is cut generously and hemmed properly. The hardware exists to serve the fall, not the other way around.

That is why our pages talk about headings and drops and returns instead of tubes and motors. If you want the mechanism conversation, Newcastle has good blinds installers who live for it. If you want the window to feel dressed, you are in the right place, and we also fit a very good roman blind when a blind is honestly the answer.

How we work

No showroom, on purpose

We do not keep a showroom, and it is a decision rather than an economy. A curtain fabric judged under warehouse lighting tells you nothing about how it will behave in your lounge room at four in the afternoon. So the swatch books travel and the measure happens at your window:

  • You enquire through the form, with as much or as little detail as you have. The planner can do the describing for you if you use it first.
  • We measure in your home, room by room, and you handle the fabrics in the exact light they will live in.
  • You get a written quote, itemised, with no obligation. Made-to-measure is quoted rather than priced off a shelf because every window and fabric pairing is different; the quote costs nothing and nothing is made until you approve it.

One honest note on contact: the enquiry form is how we take new work, and we reply to every enquiry. No phone queue, no showroom counter, no pressure at the door.

The standards we hold

The quiet rules of the workroom

  • Measured to the millimetre. Drops taken at multiple points, floors never assumed level, stack-back planned before a track is ordered.
  • Honest fabric advice. If a sheer will not survive your western window, or a fabric roman does not belong in your bathroom, we say so at the measure, not after the install.
  • Child safety as standard. Corded products fitted and labelled to the mandatory Australian standard; cord-free operation recommended wherever small children live.
  • No invented urgency. No countdown timers, no this-week-only sales. Windows are patient; so are we.

Have a room in mind already? The shortest path is the free in-home measure and quote. Still forming opinions? The guides and the planner were written to hand you the vocabulary first.

Ready when your windows are

Tell us the rooms and what the light does in them. We come to you, measure every window properly, bring the fabrics so you can judge them in your own light, and leave you a written quote. No obligation, and nothing is made until you say so.
